In a time where indie acts seem to have taken over the music scene, local septet Half Past Two proved that ska is still alive and thriving as it headlined the Spring Break Ska Social, which also featured Kingston A Go Go, the Skank Agents, Buddah Bomb and Failed to Victory, at House of Blues Anaheim on Friday night.

Trombones, saxophones, and trumpets took center stage, three instruments that haven’t had much play by today’s most popular local bands. Although it’s by no means a new genre, it was refreshing, after countless nights of indie rock, to experience something danceable, with an up-tempo beat coming out of Orange County.
