UPDATE: A fund has been set up per Christian Dasilva’s father which will benefit all three of the children. Those wishing to donate can do so by sending checks payable to Tony Dasilva at Pacific Western Bank 1661 Rosecrans Street, San Diego, CA. 92106.
Hundreds of fans, friends and family members turned out to remember Chain Reaction soundman Christian Dasilva at the all-ages venue in Anaheim Monday night. Dasilva, 40, died after his motorcycle collided with a Lexus sedan on Hamilton Avenue in Huntington Beach on July 16.
To help cover funeral costs, a benefit show, dubbed “Christian Dasilva Has a Posse,” was organized featuring performances by the Aquabats, Starpool and the Makeup Sex. Dasilva had toured with the Aquabats in the past, and frontman Christian Jacobs shared with the sold-out crowd that Dasilva was “one brave man to go on tour” with his band, that he wasn’t afraid what people would think of him once he returned home.
“He had no shame,” Jacobs continues. “He wasn’t afraid to tell people how little he got paid too.”
Jacobs also shared that since there was already one Christian on that Aquabats tour, they gave Dasilva a new name: Naitsirhc, or Christian spelled backwards.
The evening included numerous personal asides from the performers. Starpool frontman Alan Meade reminded the audience that although hearts were heavy, “We are having fun tonight in here for Christian.”
Dasilva’s pregnant wife Emma was also on hand, along with his two daughters from a previous relationship, Caidyn and Chloe. Those still wishing to donate to the Dasilva family can do so directly at any Wescom Credit Union branch by providing the name Emma Goodman and her date of birth, 8/17/81. Donations can also be mailed using the same information to Wescom Credit Union, 1170 Baker St. Ste, H-1, Costa Mesa, CA, 92626.
To continue its support, Chain Reaction is hosting another memorial show at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, featuring Southern Lights, Arms Like Yours, the Greenery, End the Century, There’s No Heroes, Siren Siren and Vale of Avalon. Tickets are $10-$12 and available at allages.com.
