With the annual Hootenanny returning to Oak Canyon Ranch in Irvine on Saturday, take a look back through our Hootenanny-inspired fashion photo shoot (put together by myself and Orange County Register photographer Leonard Ortiz) last year. Much more goes into the various looks – from a clean, classic pin-up to an edgier psychobilly style – than Bobby pins, perfectly painted nails and red lipstick, for sure.
The annual rockabilly-and-more shindig this year features performances by Bay Area punk rockers Rancid and fest staples Reverend Horton Heat. Now in its 18th year, the Hootenanny is helping Rancid celebrate its 20th anniversary along with performances by Lucero, the Bouncing Souls, the Growlers, the Supersuckers, Lee Rocker, 3 Bad Jacks, Old Man Markley, Roger Alan Wade, Chris Shiflett & Dead Peasants, Goddamn Gallows, Seven Seconds and Sandbox Bullies.
Doors open at noon and tickets are $39.50 for general admission, $99.50 for VIP passes at Ticketmaster.com.
OrangeCounty.com also shot pics of the three rounds of the Sullen Angels’ Miss Hootenanny 2012 competition held at Johnny’s Saloon in Huntington Beach in June. A winner will be crowned live on stage at the Hootenanny on Saturday. See photos of the Miss Hootenanny finalists .
