Orange County-based heavy rock outfit Railroad to Alaska kicked off it’s five-date 2012 Vans Warped Tour stint on Thursday at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine.
The act was voted best live band at this year’s OC Music Awards and received a prize pack that included playing four Southern California dates on Warped Tour Founder Kevin Lyman’s Kevin Says stage. As a bonus, Railroad to Alaska was asked to head up north to join the tour in San Francisco as well.
The band also scored the opportunity to record a music video for the track “The Real Thing” and work with award-winning film and video director Robert Sexton. The video was co-produced by the OC Music Awards and Akorn Entertainment and was partially filmed inside of the Yost Theater in Downtown Santa Ana.
We caught up with vocalist Justin Suitor, drummer Derek Eglit, guitarist Jeff Lyman, bassist and vocalist Justin Morales and songwriter Ryan Williams just after their performance and chatted about Railroad to Alaska being the OC Music Awards best live band, “The Real Thing” music video, how to survive the heat of Warped Tour and their plans for the rest of 2012. See more in the video player below.
