Music News: Morrissey, Iggy Pop to play Staples Center

He claims to have no plans to continue making music past 55. So, seeing as Morrissey is now within two years of that mark, will his Thanksgiving weekend performance in Los Angeles prove to be one of his last local shows?
Who knows? But this much is clear: There’s rarely been a Moz event like this one.
The former Smiths frontman will make his Staples Center debut on Nov. 24 with an equally iconic opening act, an influence that Morrissey likely treasures: Iggy & the Stooges.
Tickets, $29-$129.50, go on sale Friday, June 22, at 10 p.m. (yes, p.m., not a.m.). Regular Moz opener Kristeen Young is also on the bill.
There’s still no word on a new album from the singer-songwriter, despite having unveiled a handful of fresh cuts via the BBC last year, around the time of his Glastonbury appearance.
His 600-page-plus autobiography is likely due in December, assuming it finds a publisher.
