But if you were craving more exotic fare, like baked Brie in puff pastry or roasted mushroom ravioli, then you most likely would head straight for a high-end steakhouse.
For the sake of argument, let’s say that you couldn’t live without a big juicy cheeseburger, but didn’t want to pay an exorbitant amount of money for it. It doesn’t take a genius to assume that you would opt for the former location. Those burgers at fancy restaurants can cost a mortgage payment.
Well, that sports bar might be the wrong move.
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, a fixture in Fashion Island for 14 years, is just the type of place to find the aforementioned baked Brie and mushroom ravioli. But it’s now also the place to get that burger you desire.
The restaurant has added a new bar menu, and one of those items is included on the discounted happy hour menu. It’s called “The Prime Burger,” and it already is the most popular appetizer on the menu.
The reason is that it is eight ounces of prime beef, topped with cheddar cheese and peppered bacon, and accompanied by two huge onion rings. The happy hour price – $6. It joins the Brie, ravioli and a few other items on the $6 menu, which is available seven days a week, from 5-7 p.m.
If you’re willing to pay a little more, some of the other new bar menu items are to die for, including a filet mignon flatbread, salt & pepper shrimp and a prime rib melt.
The restaurant’s main dining room offers the usual steakhouse fare, from New York Strip to lobster tails, but the bar is one of the hottest after work meeting places in Newport Beach. With 100 wines offered by the glass and oversized martinis, it is a favorite with an upscale crowd.
Now that crowd can get what it always wanted – a good $6 burger.
