The Orange County Register and Jim’s Music Center is hosting the Music Festival & Showcase Contest featuring a recording package and other great prizes. Anyone can enter, but only Southern California residents in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, San Bernardino and Ventura counties are eligible to win. The contest is open to those 18-and-older (younger contestant’s entries are accepted with parental or guardian approval).
The contest is open to all genres of music and all sizes of musical groups, including: Solo, duet and group performances.
Video Submission Round: Upload a video of your individual or group musical performance here. Submissions will be accepted from June 1-July 6, 2012.
Submit your video and vote for it or others. Sixteen finalists from this round will be selected at the end of the video submission round (eight determined by the highest number of votes the video receives and eight determined by judges).
Elimination Round 1: Finalists from the video submission round will perform live in front of judges at Jim’s Music Center in Tustin on Sunday, July 22 between noon-5 p.m. Eight finalists will be eliminated and judges will pick eight finalists to move on to round two.
Elimination Round 2: The eight finalists from round one will perform for a second time at Jim’s Music Center on Sunday, July 29 between noon-5 p.m. Judges will pick three finalists to move on to the final round of competition.
Final Round: The three remaining finalists will perform on Sunday, Aug. 5 between 5-9 p.m. alongside a to-be-announced musical headliner. The three finalists will be judged and awarded either first, second or third place prizes.
First place receives six hours of recording time in Studio A at the Art Institute of California, Los Angeles, a Mapex four-piece custom drum set and Line 6 POD HD 400. Second place receives six hours of recording time in Studio B at the Art Institute of California, Los Angeles, a Mapex MPST4351 14.3.5 Piccolo Snare Drum and Line 6 POD HD 400. Third place gers four hours of recording time in Studio B at the Art Institute of California, Los Angeles, a Mapex T27oA Drum Throne and Line 6 POD HD 300.
