So this will be it, right? Two nights at the Observatory after three nights at House of Blues Anaheim, with a Club Nokia gig in between?
That would appear to be the touring finale for Thrice before the long-running Orange County band goes on indefinite hiatus. Previously announced dates for the entire run — June 14-15 and 17 at the Mouse House, June 16 at the L.A. Live venue, June 18 at the renovated spot in Santa Ana — all sold out weeks ago.
What would appear to be the final night, June 19 at the Observatory, is on sale now, $27. As at all other dates, Animals as Leaders and O’Brother will open.
Also new at the former Galaxy Theatre: Fortunate Youth, with Tatanka, July 7, $10; and reggae veteran Don Carlos, Aug. 31, $22. Meanwhile, in the club’s Constellation Room: Ab-Soul, June 27, $18; and Terraplane Sun, June 30, $10.
Elsewhere: A reminder that Carrie Underwood‘s fall show in Los Angeles, Oct. 16 at Staples Center, goes on sale Thursday, May 24, at 10 a.m. Prices: $46-$66.
British duo the xx are returning to headline July 23 at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. Tickets, $40 for general admission ($200 VIP), are on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. as well.
Reel Big Fish is readying the release of a new album, Candy Coated Fury, and will help usher it in with their umpteenth appearance at City National Grove of Anaheim, on July 28. It’ll be a full night of ska-pop: Big D & the Kids Table, Suburban Legends and the Maxies will open. Tickets, $22.50 in advance, $25 day of show, go on sale Friday at noon.
Also at the venue: comedian Howie Mandel performs Nov. 30, with John Mendoza warming up, $29.50-$55, also on sale Friday at noon; and old-school metal bands Kreator and Accept, with Swallow the Sun opening, Sept. 27, $22.50 in advance, $25 day of show, on sale Saturday at noon.
This ought to be fun: the Rock Bottom Remainders — a collection of best-selling authors-turned-rockers, including Stephen King, Amy Tan, Simpsons creator Matt Groening, Mitch Albom, humorist Dave Barry and more — will play June 22 at L.A.’s El Rey Theatre, with special guest Roger McGuinn. Tickets, $40 general admission, $200 for VIP, go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m.
Also at that joint: Denver husband-and-wife duo Tennis, Aug. 12, $20, on sale same time. Meanwhile, catch South African rap-rave outfit Die Antwoord in Pomona at the Fox Theater on Aug. 9, $24, also on sale Thursday at 10 a.m.
Puerto Rican pop star Gerardo Ortiz will headline Oct. 5 at Nokia Theatre. Tickets, $35-$250, go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. And across the way, at Club Nokia in the L.A. Live complex, the Dan Band has added another show, July 7, $19.75-$30.25, on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
Springsteen tribute Bruce in the USA is headed here for two performances: Aug. 2 at House of Blues Sunset Strip and Aug. 4 at House of Blues Anaheim, $12.50 for either show. Both dates go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m.
Also at the West Hollywood venue: Death by Stereo with the Triggers, June 9, $10; and the Never Say Die Tour, featuring Skism, Dodge & Fuski and Skeptics, June 29, $17.50.
