Cat Power, La Roux fall of Coachella lineup

Of the three individual rosters planned for April’s rapidly sold-out Coachella double-header, the only one that could stand to shed an attraction or two is Saturday’s (April 16 and 21). Those portions are so packed full of must-see names, I’m still wondering how festival organizer Goldenvoice is going to squeeze it all in without severe overlap.
Instead, it’s the noticeably weaker Friday and Sunday lineups that just lost a star apiece.
If you’ve glanced again at the poster for Coachella 2012, you already may have spotted the change: Cat Power (right) has fallen off each weekend’s opening slate, while La Roux has done likewise for the Sunday bills. In both cases, I suspect it’s because neither act is apt to have a new album ready in time to promote — La Roux’s is due in late spring at best, Cat Power’s sometime this summer (maybe).
Obviously a few names have shifted to cover the gap. The Rapture has been bumped up a font size for each Friday’s fare, while Calvin Harris has been moved to the third line for the two Sundays.
